Srinagar, Nov 13 (NationPress) The Counter-Intelligence Wing, Kashmir (CIK) of J&K Police executed raids at 13 locations throughout the Valley on Thursday, as part of an investigation into the Delhi terror blast.
Authorities reported that these coordinated searches are targeting the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) organization in various Kashmir regions following the Delhi incident, where a local physician, Mohd Umar, was implicated. He hails from the Pulwama district.
In a significant development, the DNA of Mohd Umar's mother has confirmed his identity.
Umar had been evading capture after the J&K Police, in collaboration with the Haryana Police, dismantled a terror module in Faridabad. He managed to elude arrest while his accomplices, Dr Adil from Kulgam district and Dr Muzammil Ganai from his native Koil village in Pulwama, were detained.
A female doctor from Lucknow, Dr Shaheen Shahid, who collaborated with Umar and others at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad, was apprehended after authorities found an assault rifle in her vehicle.
On Wednesday, the Lucknow police took her brother into custody for questioning.
Dr Adil was arrested after surveillance footage captured him putting up posters for the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). An AK-47 rifle was discovered in his locker at the Government Medical College in Anantnag, where he had resigned in October 2024.
His confession led to the arrest of Dr Muzammil Ganai, also affiliated with Al-Falah Medical College, from whom the J&K Police seized over 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate in Faridabad.
The Union Home Ministry (MHA) has transferred the investigation of the Delhi terror blast to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The alarming rise of white-collar terrorism involving professionals such as doctors has introduced a new concern regarding terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The dismantling of this terror network operated by medical professionals has validated the actions of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, who has terminated numerous government employees suspected of having terror connections in the Union Territory.
Interestingly, this decision faced criticism from various political entities, including the National Conference (NC), which currently governs the territory.
