Jammu, Nov 19 (NationPress) The Counter-Intelligence wing, Jammu (CIJ) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police executed a raid on Wednesday within the high-security Kot Bhalwal district jail in Jammu.
Officials revealed that the CIJ operations are ongoing inside the Kot Bhalwal central jail, where numerous hardcore Pakistani and local terrorists, along with notorious criminals, are incarcerated.
“These operations aim to unveil terror networks allegedly orchestrated from within the jail,” officials stated.
This raid takes place against the backdrop of a significant crackdown following the recent discovery of a white-collar terror network operated by a group of doctors and the subsequent car explosion in the Red Fort area of Delhi on November 10.
On Tuesday, the Kashmir wing of Counter-Intelligence (CIK) apprehended a local doctor, Umar Farooq Bhat, and his wife, Shahzada Akhtar from Budgam village in Kulgam district, for interrogation in connection with the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror organization and its link to the Dukhtaran-e-Millat women's terror group.
It is alleged that both the detained doctor and particularly his wife, Shahzada, were attempting to reactivate the women's terror group after it had effectively become inactive following the arrest of its leader, Asiya Andrabi, in 2018. The couple was taken into custody from the Shireen Bagh area of Srinagar.
Dr. Umar Farooq Bhat serves as a cardiologist at the government super specialty hospital located in Shireen Bagh, Srinagar.
The arrests of two overground workers (OGWs) associated with JeM led to the dismantling of the white-collar terror module, as the J&K Police, in collaboration with Haryana Police, conducted a raid in the Faridabad area.
The OGWs contributed to the arrest of Dr. Adil Rather, hailing from Kulgam district, in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. One AK-47 rifle was found in his locker at Anantnag Medical College. Adil had resigned from his position in Anantnag on October 24.
He subsequently led investigators to the arrest of Dr. Muzammil Ganaie in Faridabad, where explosive materials were also recovered from him.
Another associate of these two doctors, Dr. Umar Nabi, managed to evade capture but was killed in the car explosion near the Red Fort, which tragically resulted in the deaths of 13 civilians and left many others injured.
