Srinagar, Nov 18 (NationPress) The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit of the J&K Police has uncovered a significant connection between the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and the outlawed women’s militant group Dukhtaran-e-Millat during operations at various sites across the Valley, according to sources.
Officials revealed that CIK teams executed raids in several regions of Kashmir, including Srinagar, Budgam, and Kulgam districts, as part of their inquiry into recent terror recruitment activities by militant organizations.
“The CIK teams also conducted searches at the super specialty hospital located at Shireen Bagh in Srinagar after securing warrants from the court,” the sources reported, noting that investigations are ongoing within the hospital premises.
This operation is being carried out under the authority of court-issued search warrants. Sources further indicated that the CIK has effectively established a connection between the JeM and the banned women's group, Dukhtaran-e-Millat, which is led by Asiya Andrabi, who has been in custody since 2018.
“It is suspected that Dr Umar Farooq and his spouse, Shahzada, are actively involved in encouraging and recruiting women throughout Kashmir at the behest of JeM. Shahzada was reportedly utilized to revitalize the operations of Dukhtaran-e-Millat while Asiya Andrabi remains incarcerated,” the sources stated.
A CIK unit previously raided Dr Umar Farooq’s residence in Bugam village of Kulgam district. The investigation is also examining an online radicalization network reportedly functioning via dark-web channels and OGW networks.
“Throughout the ongoing raids, incriminating evidence, including radical and jihadi literature specifically aimed at women, has been confiscated. The searches continue, and arrests are anticipated shortly, officials added. More information will follow,” they indicated.
Following the discovery of the white-collar terror module by the J&K Police in collaboration with the Haryana Police in Faridabad, continuous interrogation of the detained suspects has been yielding essential insights for the investigators.
Utilizing this intelligence, searches and operations are being conducted to expose additional links to the terror module and previously unidentified connections between supposedly dismantled terror factions, including Dukhtaran-e-Millat.
