Counter Intelligence Conducts Raid at Central Jail in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) division of the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) CID reported on Wednesday that it executed a raid at the Central Jail in Srinagar as part of its ongoing operations aimed at identifying anti-national elements.
According to official sources, the CIK initiated a comprehensive search at the Central Jail in Srinagar on Tuesday morning, focusing on the potential connections of certain inmates with anti-national factions.
“This operation was designed to uncover crucial evidence, eliminate illicit activities, and prevent the misuse of communication devices such as mobile phones within this high-security correctional facility.
“The CIK, in collaboration with jail authorities, conducted thorough searches across multiple barracks, and initial findings revealed the seizure of several mobile phones utilized for unauthorized communications,” sources indicated.
“The jail officials worked closely with the CIK to facilitate an exhaustive investigation. This raid is part of the CIK's recent operations at ten locations across Kashmir, which have led to the detention of seven suspects,” sources disclosed.
Security forces and intelligence agencies have intensified their efforts against terrorists, their Over Ground Workers (OGWs), and sympathizers to dismantle the terror infrastructure in J&K.
This escalation follows explicit directives from Lieutenant-Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha, who has mandated an all-encompassing coordinated strategy to eliminate terrorism from the Union Territory.
The LG's orders came shortly after terrorists executed heinous attacks against the Army, security personnel, police, and civilians in J&K.
On October 20, terrorists indiscriminately opened fire inside a workers’ camp in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals, including six non-local workers and a local doctor.
On Tuesday, security forces successfully neutralized a wanted LeT commander, Junaid Ahmad Bhat, in the Dachigam area of Srinagar district. Bhat was one of the two terrorists implicated in the Gagangir attack that claimed civilian lives, according to police reports.
