Srinagar, Sep 20 (NationPress) The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) branch of the Jammu and Kashmir CID executed searches at eight locations spanning seven districts within the Valley on Saturday as part of an ongoing investigation into militancy-related issues.
Officials confirmed that these operations were carried out simultaneously in Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kupwara, Handwara, Pulwama, and Shopian districts.
"These searches were initiated following the acquisition of search warrants from a competent court in relation to an ongoing militant investigation," officials stated.
The inquiry concerns a suspected connection between specific individuals and militant networks operating in Kashmir.
"The objective of the searches was to collect both digital and physical evidence that could advance the investigation," sources added.
During the operation, a variety of documents and electronic devices were confiscated for forensic analysis. So far, no arrests have been reported in connection with these searches.
CIK teams received assistance from local police and the CRPF during the searches.
Joint forces have intensified operations against terrorists, their over ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers in Jammu and Kashmir.
Moreover, drug traffickers and dealers are also under surveillance, as intelligence agencies believe that funds from drug smuggling and hawala networks ultimately support terrorism in the Union Territory.
The strategy to target terrorists, their OGWs, sympathizers, and drug smugglers is part of a revised approach by the joint forces to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
In many cases involving drug smuggling and hawala operations, intelligence agencies have traced connections across the line of control (LoC) and the international border (IB).
In addition to regular criminal investigations, passport verifications, and gathering ground-level intelligence, the Jammu and Kashmir CID features a specialized CIK wing, with one section operating in Kashmir and the other in Jammu.
Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir CID has a dedicated high-profile crime investigation unit known as the State Investigation Agency (SIA).
