Srinagar, Nov 9 (NationPress) Nine individuals have been apprehended during a significant operation executed by the J&K Police's Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing on Sunday targeting online terrorism in the Valley, as per an official announcement.
The CIK stated, "In a concerted effort against online terror networks, we executed coordinated raids throughout Kashmir on Sunday, delivering a powerful message against extremism and cyber abuse."
In response to credible intelligence regarding the online glorification of terrorism and the radicalization of youth, CIK teams targeted 10 specific locations across Srinagar, Kulgam, Baramulla, Shopian, and Pulwama.
According to the statement, “This vigorous operation, supported by local police, was aimed at individuals suspected of exploiting social media platforms to incite violence, disseminate anti-national propaganda, and promote communal discord.” The CIK emphasized its dedication to maintaining public order and internal security by eradicating digital threats at their origin.
As a result, nine suspects, including one female, have been detained, and a significant quantity of incriminating materials—ranging from SIM cards and mobile phones to tablets and various digital devices—has been seized for forensic analysis. This evidence is anticipated to provide crucial insights, leading to further investigations and additional enforcement actions.
The CIK remarked that this comprehensive crackdown across the Valley marks the commencement of an intensified campaign against online terrorism and illegal digital activities. More raids and arrests are expected as authorities remain committed to shielding Kashmir’s youth from the influence of Pakistan-backed terrorists, violent extremism, and maintaining peace in the Valley.
Additionally, law enforcement in Ramban district has conducted Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) targeting J&K natives operating from Pakistan and overground workers (OGWs) associated with terrorist groups.
Police and security forces have been engaged in rigorous anti-terror operations against terrorists, their OGWs, and sympathizers to dismantle the entire ecosystem of terror in the Union Territory.
