Jammu, March 23 (NationPress) Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan is set to lead a high-level security review session focused on Jammu and Kashmir today via video conferencing.

According to officials, the review will cover the current security and financial status of the J&K Police for this fiscal year and projections for 2026-2027.

Participants in this meeting include J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, senior police officials, and the Inspector Generals from both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 2:30 PM.

This meeting will mark the initial high-stakes review of the security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of the Union Home Secretary following the elimination of four key Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, including their commander Saifullah, in Kishtwar last month.

Sources reveal that strategies to enhance anti-terror operations in the mountainous and forested regions of the UT, particularly in the Jammu area where foreign terrorists may be lurking, will be a major focus.

As summer approaches, the intensity of anti-terror operations is expected to increase, according to sources.

The Union Home Ministry is urging security forces to take decisive action against any terrorists in hiding.

In addition to the Army and paramilitary units, specially trained Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel have been deployed in areas where terrorist activity is suspected.

The SOG is adept at conducting anti-terror operations in challenging terrains and adverse weather.

Security agencies remain vigilant regarding the overground support networks of terrorists. It is believed that dismantling this nexus will severely impede terrorist operations, and robust efforts are underway to achieve this.

Recent reports indicate that certain overground worker networks have been compromised, and police are close to dismantling additional syndicates. The financial status of the J&K Police will also be a priority at this meeting.

Matters such as budget expenditures for the current financial year of 2025-26, which concludes in less than 10 days, as well as police needs for 2026-27 will be discussed. Notably, the budget for the J&K Police is now directly managed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

The J&K Police has evolved into a modernized force equipped with advanced weaponry and technology to combat terrorism and various criminal activities.

While modernization is ongoing, additional measures are being implemented, according to sources. The meeting will also revisit the discussions from previous meetings led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan.

It is worth noting that Amit Shah conducted a visit to the Jammu region from February 5-7, during which he oversaw high-level security reviews and development discussions.

The updated strategy focuses on targeting terrorists, their overground workers, and sympathizers to completely dismantle the support network for terrorism in the union territory.

Furthermore, drug traffickers and individuals linked to hawala money laundering are under scrutiny, as it is suspected that revenues from these activities are utilized to finance terrorism.
