New Delhi, June 18 (NationPress) In a pivotal move to bolster cyber resilience and digital governance, the Department of Information Technology, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, teamed up with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to conduct a two-day state-level “Cyber Crisis Management Plan (CCMP) Workshop and Cybersecurity Exercise” at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, on June 16 and 17.
Jointly organized with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), this workshop aimed to provide essential cybersecurity knowledge and practical training to key government officials — including Administrative Secretaries, CISOs/ISOs, and nodal officers — for managing cyber crises effectively.
During the inauguration, Satish Sharma, Minister of Information Technology, J&K, highlighted the increasing significance of cybersecurity in today’s digital governance landscape, marking this initiative as a major step towards facilitating secure and efficient public service delivery. Dr. Piyush Singla, Secretary of the IT Department, welcomed participants, emphasizing that cybersecurity forms the core of governance and public trust.
He encouraged various departments to adopt resilient digital frameworks and cultivate a workforce that is aware of cyber threats. Saurabh Bhagat, Commissioner/Secretary of FCS&CA, delivered the keynote address, underscoring the dynamic threat environment and the necessity for inter-departmental collaboration. He inspired officials to evolve into “cyber warriors” through ongoing education and regular cybersecurity drills.
The workshop featured interactive presentations, policy discussions, and practical exercises aimed at enhancing participants' comprehension of cybersecurity frameworks and preparedness. Attendees actively participated in dialogues regarding the current cyber threat landscape and strategies for departmental responses.
In closing, Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General of CERT-In, delivered a compelling address that focused on the urgency of establishing proactive cyber resilience and swift recovery methods.
