Kannur, May 6 (NationPress) Veteran CPI-M leader E.P. Jayarajan announced on Tuesday that he has chosen to forgive a prominent publishing house for mistakenly leaking news about the release of his autobiography.
The esteemed publishing company DC Books and its chief executive A.V. Sreekumar faced criticism from Jayarajan after they prematurely declared the launch of his autobiography, which he has not yet completed and for which he has not signed any contract. This announcement raised questions about how such an error could occur.
This news broke during a significant by-election period last November.
“I have resolved to put this matter behind me. I had issued a legal notice to the publishing house, and having received their response, I have chosen to accept their apology and will not pursue further actions. I am not one to harbor grudges, so the matter is concluded,” Jayarajan stated.
Interestingly, on the day of the by-election, excerpts from the autobiography were broadcast on various TV channels, putting the CPI-M in a difficult position.
A visibly upset Jayarajan expressed, “I was astonished to see on TV that my autobiography was being released. How can that be when I am still writing the book and it remains unfinished? I have not entered into any agreement with DC Books, who announced the release on Wednesday before retracting it, nor with any other publisher,” he added.
He quickly lodged a complaint with the Kerala Police, leading to an investigation and the booking of Sreekumar.
However, with Jayarajan now forgiving the 'mistake' and opting not to escalate the controversy, both DC Books and Sreekumar can now relax. Additionally, on Tuesday, Jayarajan revealed that his autobiography is set to be published next month by Mathrubhumi Books.
Jayarajan, a former State Minister, has shown a fluctuating stance since being removed from contesting the 2021 Assembly elections.
