Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 4 (NationPress) Senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shobha Surendran, has launched a fierce criticism aimed at veteran Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader E.P. Jayarajan on Tuesday, ridiculing his recently published autobiography, suggesting it ought to be named 'A Thief's Memoir'.
On Monday, Jayarajan’s autobiography titled 'Ithanente Jeevitham (This Is My Life)' was unveiled by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kannur.
Surendran reiterated her previous statement regarding her visit to Ramanilayam (the government guest house in Thrissur), stating, 'I went there three times, and if I had stayed for 24 more hours, the BJP shawl would have been around his neck.' This remark was aimed at mocking the Left leader.
The BJP leader also pledged to see through the defamation lawsuit filed by Jayarajan, insisting she would compel him to 'draw the letter Ksha in court', a Malayalam phrase indicating a public apology.
Surendran's comments followed Jayarajan's claims in his autobiography, where he accused her of trying to secure a BJP nomination for her son.
In the autobiography, Jayarajan alleges that Surendran met his son in Ernakulam, obtained his phone number, and contacted him multiple times to discuss political issues.
In response to these claims, Surendran questioned, 'Does E.P. Jayarajan possess a machine that allows him to read my mind to conclude that the calls were regarding fielding my son in the election?'
She reiterated that her visit to Ramanilayam was not out of the ordinary and ridiculed Jayarajan for what she referred to as 'fabricated political storytelling.'
Surendran stated, 'If his book had any truthful title, it should be 'The Autobiography of a Thief.' This comment elicited laughter from BJP supporters.
Meanwhile, tensions are rising within the CPI-M following the release of Jayarajan's autobiography.
Reports indicate discontent among CPI-M members over Jayarajan's revelation of various internal disputes and controversies previously kept confidential by the organization.
Sources suggest that the dissatisfaction primarily arises from Jayarajan's candid discussion of criticisms leveled against him by former legislator P. Jayarajan within the party.
Furthermore, the absence of notable CPI-M leaders, including State Secretary M.V. Govindan, from the book launch event on Monday has intensified speculation regarding internal discord.
Notably, P. Jayarajan also skipped the occasion.
CPI-M leaders typically avoid publicly discussing internal disagreements or discussions.
