Ranchi, December 22 (NationPress) The government of Jharkhand has unveiled a complimentary residential coaching initiative aimed at preparing Scheduled Tribe (ST) students for medical and engineering entrance examinations.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren officially launched the ‘Dishom Guru Shibu Soren Engineering and Medical Coaching Institute’ situated in Hindpiri, Ranchi. This institute will function in partnership with a well-known coaching institution from Kota, Rajasthan.
The Chief Minister stated that this initiative symbolizes a robust and visionary approach to enhancing the future prospects of tribal students in Jharkhand. He encouraged the selected students to uphold discipline and maintain focus on their objectives, reaffirming the government’s dedication to the educational and social advancement of the tribal community.
CM Soren also instructed officials to ensure the establishment of sufficient sports and recreational amenities within the coaching facility, alongside academic infrastructure, to foster the holistic development of students.
In the initial phase, 300 talented Scheduled Tribe students have been chosen for enrollment at the institute, which is overseen by the Welfare Department.
The students will benefit from top-notch coaching provided by proficient faculty members, along with study materials, tablets equipped with digital content, library access, and facilities for digital learning tailored for medical and engineering entrance tests.
This program is entirely free and residential, featuring distinct hostel accommodations for boys and girls.
Officials indicated that this initiative is part of the “Jharkhand Scheduled Tribe Educational Upliftment Programme,” designed to offer opportunities to gifted tribal students who face financial obstacles in pursuing professional courses such as medicine and engineering.
The advantages of this scheme will exclusively be available to Scheduled Tribe students who are permanent residents of Jharkhand and whose parents are not employed in regular government positions.
Welfare Minister Chamra Linda, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh, senior departmental officials, and other dignitaries were in attendance at the launch event.
The Welfare Department is already providing support to Scheduled Tribe candidates who have cleared the UPSC Civil Services Main Examination and interviews, and also offers coaching for JPSC and JSSC examinations.
In addition, the state government is gearing up to introduce a similar free coaching initiative for meritorious students from Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, and minority communities aspiring to enter medical and engineering fields.
This new scheme is expected to roll out in the next academic session, with financial provisions anticipated in the upcoming state budget.
