Ranchi, April 14 (NationPress) The Jharkhand Minority Welfare Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) figure, Hafizul Hasan Ansari, ignited significant controversy by declaring that Islamic law, Shariat, holds greater importance than the Indian Constitution.

His comments, made during an interview with a local news outlet, have triggered a political uproar in the state.

High-ranking BJP officials have vociferously condemned his statement and are now demanding his dismissal from the Cabinet.

In the interview, Ansari remarked, "Shariat is paramount for me. We carry the Quran in our hearts and the Constitution in our hands. Muslims navigate life with the Quran in their hearts and the Constitution in their hands. Thus, we will prioritize Shariat over the Constitution. This is the essence of my faith in Islam."

Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi reacted strongly, utilizing social media to criticize Ansari's remarks.

"For Minister Hafizul Hasan, Shariat is prioritized over the Constitution, indicating his focus on a specific 'goal' and allegiance solely to his community. During elections, he courted votes from the impoverished, Dalits, and tribals, yet now he aims to promote an Islamic agenda," Marandi stated.

Marandi deemed the statement as "dangerous" and cautioned, "This radical ideology threatens the cultural and tribal identity of the entire state, particularly in Santhal Pargana. When an individual in a constitutional role endorses radical beliefs, it jeopardizes not only the present but also future generations."

The BJP leader also urged politicians across all parties to transcend political divides and tackle this issue. "Shariat is in direct conflict with the fundamental tenets of the Constitution established by Babasaheb Ambedkar. If Rahul Gandhi and Hemant Soren genuinely uphold the Constitution, they must expeditiously remove Hafizul Hasan from the Cabinet," Marandi insisted.

Union Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi BJP MP, Sanjay Seth, also denounced Ansari’s remarks, labeling them unfortunate.

“On a day when the nation honors Dr Ambedkar and the Constitution, a Jharkhand Minister, who took an oath on the Constitution, claims that Shariat is superior. This is a misfortune for our democracy. Shariat must never overshadow the Constitution," Seth remarked.

BJP MP from Godda, Nishikant Dubey, asserted that the Congress and its allies show disrespect toward Baba Saheb Ambedkar's Constitution.

Sharing a video of Ansari’s comments on social media, Dubey wrote, "This is the Jharkhand government Minister Hafizul Ansari, who believes that Shariat law—essentially the Muslim Constitution—takes precedence over any other Constitution. The media remains silent on this because this aligns with what the INDIA alliance represents."
