Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Jan 7 (NationPress) The national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Union Minister for Health, J.P. Nadda, is set to arrive in Kolkata on Wednesday night. He is scheduled to participate in two significant meetings: one focused on administrative matters and the other on political strategy.
On Thursday morning, he will address a seminar related to health in the city, followed by a vital organisational meeting with the state leadership of the BJP in the afternoon, as confirmed by a member of the state committee.
Nadda plans to return to New Delhi on Thursday evening after concluding the organisational meeting.
“Our West Bengal state president and BJP Rajya Sabha member, Samik Bhattacharya, had specifically invited Nadda to attend and address the organisational meeting on the same day, to which he consented,” the state committee member stated.
This organisational meeting will be a private gathering, where Nadda is expected to provide insights on the election strategy for the crucial Assembly elections scheduled for this year.
Just last month, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Kolkata for three days. Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated for a two-day visit to the state later this month, during which he will address rallies in two districts.
In light of these visits by senior leaders, Nadda's presence and the organisational meetings underscore the BJP leadership's commitment to gearing up for the Assembly elections, as noted by political observers.
During his three-day stay in Kolkata, Union Home Minister Shah provided crucial guidance to the BJP's state leadership on how to advance preparations and campaigning for the Assembly elections.
The most critical advice emphasized the necessity to consistently counter the propaganda of the Trinamool Congress, which is instilling fear among voters from the Matua community regarding their potential loss of voting rights amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the state.
He also advised the core state leadership to implement regular interaction programs with Matua community voters, assuring them of the protection of their voting rights and dispelling their fears.
In addition to addressing the Matua issue, the state committee member mentioned that the Union Home Minister instructed state leaders to actively refute the propaganda from the CPI(M)-led Left Front and certain state Congress leaders regarding an alleged secret understanding between the top brass of BJP and Trinamool Congress.
