Proceedings had barely begun at 11:07 a.m. when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators, led by Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, rose from their seats and launched a vocal protest, pressing the government for answers on the JPSC-JSSC recruitment controversy. Several members then entered the Well of the House and continued sloganeering, bringing Question Hour to a halt.

Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato made repeated appeals for order, noting that all members shared a concern for students' interests and that the House needed to function smoothly. When those appeals went unheeded, the Speaker adjourned proceedings until noon.

What the Ruling Alliance Said

Congress Legislature Party leader Pradeep Yadav accused the opposition of deliberately engineering disorder and wasting the Assembly's time. He maintained that the government was committed to protecting students' futures and pointed out that cases related to the JPSC-JSSC examinations were already under investigation by the state's Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Yadav also addressed the student protest held outside the Assembly on Monday, stating that it had been peaceful and that the administration had arranged transport to help students return home after the demonstration. He alleged, however, that individuals reportedly linked to the BJP had attempted to provoke disruptions during the protest.

Opposition's Core Demand

Opposition members argued that a CID investigation, being a state agency, could not guarantee impartiality in a matter where the state government itself faced allegations. They insisted that only a CBI inquiry could provide a credible, independent examination of the alleged irregularities. The opposition also raised concerns over reported police action against students during Monday's Assembly gherao protest.

The JPSC-JSSC recruitment row has simmered for months, with aspirants alleging paper leaks and procedural violations in competitive examinations that determine government employment for thousands of candidates across Jharkhand.
