Shillong, Oct 8 (NationPress) Justice Soumen Sen has officially taken the oath as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court during a formal ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Shillong on Wednesday. The oath was administered by Meghalaya Governor C.H. Vijayashankar, accompanied by prominent guests and dignitaries.
Justice Sen replaces Justice Indra Prasanna Mukerji, who retired on September 5 after reaching superannuation age. Until the new appointment, Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew served as the Acting Chief Justice.
The event was graced by judges of the Meghalaya High Court, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Leader of the Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma, state cabinet members, senior government officials, legal professionals, and other notable figures.
