New Delhi, June 26 (NationPress) – BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, voiced her disapproval on Thursday regarding Zohran Mamdani, the son of the acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair and a candidate for the position of New York Mayor, for his perceived anti-Hindu and pro-Pakistani sentiments.
In a post on the social media platform X, the National Award-winning actress expressed her disbelief at Zohran’s derogatory remarks concerning India.
“He sounds more Pakistani than Indian,” Kangana stated.
The Mandi MP further highlighted the marriage of ‘Bharat-raised’ Mira Nair to the esteemed writer Mehmood Mamdani (of Gujarati descent), questioning why their 32-year-old Muslim son seemed “prepared to eliminate Hinduism.”
In a tone of sarcasm, the BJP MP remarked, “On a different note, I’ve met Mira ji a few times; congratulations to the parents.”
Kangana’s message commenced by introducing the Ugandan-born Indian American’s mother: “His mother is Mira Nair, one of our finest filmmakers, Padmashri, a cherished and celebrated daughter born and raised in great Bharat, based in New York. She wed Mehmood Mamdani (of Gujarati heritage), a prominent author, and clearly, their son is named Zohran, who sounds more Pakistani than Indian.”
“Whatever happened to his Hindu identity or lineage? Now he seems ready to eradicate Hinduism—wow! It’s the same narrative everywhere,” she articulated.
A social media user responded to Kangana’s post by sharing an old video of Zohran Mamdani, where he introduced himself and criticized the Indian government and the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
The video, which remains unverified by IANS, allegedly shows Zohran protesting alongside Sikh demonstrators in New York.
On Tuesday, Zohran achieved a historic triumph in the NYC mayoral election primary, leading to a face-off on November 4 against Republican Frank T. Donovan for the esteemed City Hall position.
Previously, senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi echoed similar sentiments as Kangana regarding Zohran, stating on X, “When Zohran Mamdani speaks, Pakistan’s PR team takes a break. India doesn’t require enemies with ‘allies’ like him spreading falsehoods from New York.”
