Bengaluru, Nov 20 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP declared on Thursday that it will partner with its NDA ally, the JD(S), to challenge the Congress-led state administration in the forthcoming winter session of the Karnataka Legislature set to take place in Belagavi.
Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, stated during a press conference at Vidhana Soudha that he has already convened a preparatory meeting with JD(S) MLCs to strategize for the session.
The two parties plan to collectively highlight pressing issues such as the aftermath of floods, drought assistance, the state of damaged roads, Karnataka's escalating financial troubles, declining law enforcement, and educational challenges via a Calling Attention motion.
“BJP members of the Upper House convened a meeting last week, where we discussed these critical issues with our NDA partner JD(S) and agreed to collaborate during the Belagavi session,” he remarked.
“The challenges faced by farmers across the state are intensifying. This government is all talk and little action. Keeping this in mind, we must demand accountability from them. We must promptly address the problems faced by the people and consider deep, fundamental solutions for farmers' concerns,” he emphasized.
He criticized the government, stating, “The administration claims one thing but fails to act accordingly. They behave as if: ‘Let the opposition voice their opinions; we will do as we please; we don't need to heed them.’”
He further mentioned that he has reached out to the Chairman requesting a special discussion on the significant issues concerning North Karnataka during the Belagavi session.
“I have learned through media reports that 31 Bills are anticipated to be presented in the House. The Belagavi session is crucial for addressing the concerns of North Karnataka. There are already calls from the Kalaburagi region advocating for a separate state,” he indicated.
“That's the reason Article 371(J) was enacted to ensure special attention, and the KKRDB (Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board) was established. Efforts are underway to prioritize and secure additional funding for the development of this region,” he underscored.
He added that Belagavi MLA Raju Kage has raised the issue of a separate state, alleging that government discrimination is inciting such claims.
“Just as the KKRDB has been created for Kalyana Karnataka's development, a similar Development Board should be established for Kittur Karnataka. Sufficient grants must be allocated to guarantee development in that area as well. Due to neglect, dissenting voices are emerging,” he stated firmly.
He insisted on the necessity of establishing a Kittur Karnataka Development Board.
Present at the event were JD(S) MLCs T.A. Sharavana, Hanumant Nirani, and BJP MLC Keshavaprasad S.
