Bengaluru, April 3 (NationPress) Karnataka BJP President and MLA, B.Y. Vijayendra, expressed his satisfaction with the Lok Sabha's endorsement of a landmark Bill concerning the Waqf Board on Thursday.
Vijayendra further condemned the Congress for its opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill at both state and national levels, labeling it a tragedy.
He accused the party's leaders and politicians of misappropriating land in Karnataka under the pretext of the Waqf Board.
“These same Congress leaders are now against the Waqf Bill,” he stated.
He pointed out that discussions regarding the Waqf Act have been happening for decades both in the state and across the nation.
“In our state, lands belonging to temples and religious institutions with histories spanning over a thousand years, along with vast stretches of farmland owned by farmers, have been forcibly taken under the guise of the Waqf Board,” Vijayendra claimed.
“If no one can question this, what kind of justice is being served? What kind of nation do we inhabit?” he asked.
A few months prior, the BJP had staged protests regarding this matter, he noted.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi established a parliamentary subcommittee at the Centre to address the injustices and fraud occurring under the name of the Waqf Board,” Vijayendra mentioned.
He indicated that with the Lok Sabha's approval of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill at midnight yesterday, this was a historic moment. “This is a time for everyone to celebrate,” Vijayendra stated.
He also highlighted that both Hindus and Muslims have embraced this decision.
“To commemorate the event, sweets were distributed among BJP leaders and workers,” Vijayendra revealed.
Vijayendra asserted that numerous Congress leaders are implicated in the Waqf scam.
“Karnataka serves as the most recent example of this. Names of Congress leaders have repeatedly emerged in this scam, which is why they naturally resist amendments to the Waqf law,” he remarked.
Vijayendra criticized Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah's leadership, claiming that after his second term as Chief Minister, he has been behaving with arrogance. “His deceptive socialist facade has crumbled during this period,” he claimed.
Vijayendra also accused the Congress of using Karnataka as a pawn for the High Command and the Gandhi family, treating it like an ATM during elections.
“We did not manage to counter the misinformation against our previous BJP government, and I acknowledge that. Consequently, we find ourselves in the Opposition. However, we harbor no resentment about this,” he concluded.
