Bengaluru, Nov 23 (NationPress) In the midst of a leadership crisis, a recent trip to Delhi, and conflicting statements from within the ruling Congress party, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge at his Bengaluru residence for a discussion lasting approximately one and a half hours.

During the meeting, he emphasized that the decisions from the Congress high command are conclusive and that both he and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar must adhere to these directives.

This extended meeting has sparked considerable speculation within the state's political landscape.

Despite appearing somewhat tense, CM Siddaramaiah handled inquiries effectively, maintaining his composure throughout.

He stated, "I will never be either dull or overly elated."

After the meeting, Siddaramaiah informed the media, "We discussed organizational matters related to the party. With upcoming elections for the taluk panchayat, zilla panchayat, and Bengaluru civic body, these topics were essential. It was primarily a courtesy visit as he was in Bengaluru."

When questioned about Kharge's potential request for him to remain as CM for an additional two and a half years, Siddaramaiah remarked, "Why are you inquiring about everything? This is mere speculation, and you (the media) are the ones fueling it."

In response to inquiries about Karnataka Congress MLAs meeting Kharge in Delhi, he stated, "I have not questioned it."

When asked why he, as the Congress Legislature Party leader, hadn't sought information on this, Siddaramaiah mentioned he would collect details from the Intelligence department.

"I have neither asked Kharge for information nor inquired with the Karnataka Congress MLAs," he added.

Regarding the length of the meeting, Siddaramaiah maintained it was simply a cordial gathering.

"I enjoyed some snacks at Kharge's residence -- onion pakoda and dry fruits," he shared.

When questioned about his demeanor concerning the CM position in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah responded, "I will never appear dull. You ask why I look dull just to make a point. There is no question of me becoming dull. Understood? I won't be dull, and at the same time, I won't be overly elated."

On the subject of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar's visit to two Congress MLAs incarcerated at the Bengaluru Central Jail, he remarked, "Let him go and meet them; there is no issue with that."

The Chief Minister concluded, "Ultimately, the decision will be made by the Congress high command, and everyone must consent to it. All leaders and ministers must agree. I must agree, and D.K. Shivakumar must agree. This matter was not discussed in our meeting."

When asked how he could stay at Kharge's residence for over an hour without discussing party matters, Siddaramaiah clarified, "Although my time at Kharge's residence was extended, I was actively engaged in discussions for over an hour."
