Bengaluru, Jan 8 (NationPress) Karnataka's Home Minister, G. Parameshwara, announced that Bangladeshis living in the state without legal permission will be located, arrested, and sent back to their homeland. He emphasized that the Bangladeshi embassy will be notified in such instances.
During a press conference in Bengaluru on Thursday, Parameshwara declared, "If any Bangladeshi national is found to be living illegally in our state, we will take action to identify, apprehend, and deport them. Their embassy will be informed accordingly. We have successfully handled similar cases in the past."
When queried about the number of Bangladeshi nationals in Karnataka, Parameshwara advised the media to be careful in framing such inquiries.
He pointed out that if there are claims regarding the presence of Bangladeshi nationals, it is essential to provide evidence. He suggested that it would be more accurate for the media to report that they have received information about this matter.
In response to Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy's accusation that the state Home Minister was "ineffective and merely a rubber stamp," Parameshwara asserted, "As a committed Home Minister, I will ensure that law and order is upheld in Karnataka. We will take necessary measures within legal bounds, regardless of the circumstances. If Kumaraswamy refers to me as a rubber stamp, I appreciate the remark. I prefer not to elaborate further. However, as a responsible individual, he should think carefully before making such comments."
"Having collaborated with Kumaraswamy during his tenure as Chief Minister while I served as the Deputy Chief Minister, he is aware of my abilities and character. I am perplexed by his statements," he remarked.
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy criticized Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar for convening a meeting of police officials in Ballari in response to the violence.
Kumaraswamy questioned the Deputy Chief Minister's authority to call such a meeting, inquiring whether the state only has a rubber-stamp Home Minister.
"Is there no legitimate Home Minister in the state? Is the Home Minister merely a figurehead? The public deserves to know the truth about this situation," he stated.
"Party workers and Congress leaders themselves have filed complaints with the fact-finding committee against the very MLAs implicated in the incident. What will happen to your investigation now?" he pressed.
