New Delhi, Aug 6 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened Kartavya Bhavan at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, describing it as a pivotal advancement in modernizing India's administrative framework into a 21st-century system that prioritizes cost-efficiency, productivity, and environmental sustainability.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the government has been allocating nearly Rs 1,500 crore annually for renting office spaces for various ministries spread across different locations in the capital.
With this new integrated administrative complex, he asserted, the government will conserve public funds, enhance employee productivity, and improve overall administrative effectiveness.
“Previously, about 8,000 to 10,000 government employees had to commute daily between scattered ministries. This not only intensified traffic congestion and fuel expenses but also hampered work efficiency. The establishment of Kartavya Bhavan and other upcoming buildings along Kartavya Path will rectify this situation,” he remarked.
PM Modi stressed that the vision and design of Kartavya Bhavan are aligned with both people's needs and environmental goals.
The building is equipped with solar panels on the roof, reinforcing India's dedication to green infrastructure and sustainability.
“This structure embodies our comprehensive development vision - it represents more than just buildings; it's about shaping the future of governance in a Viksit Bharat (Developed India),” he added.
Referring to August as a “month of revolution,” the Prime Minister noted that Kartavya Bhavan joins the ranks of significant national infrastructure projects in the capital, which include the New Parliament House, Bharat Mandapam, National War Memorial, and Yashobhoomi Convention Centre.
“These are not mere buildings; they are temples of governance from where crucial policies for the nation's future will be crafted. Kartavya Bhavan symbolizes our constitutional spirit and democratic values,” PM Modi stated, referencing the Bhagavad Gita to emphasize the importance of duty.
He also highlighted that ministries like the Ministry of Home Affairs are still functioning in century-old facilities with insufficient amenities.
“The India of the 21st century cannot operate under such conditions. This transformation is crucial,” he remarked.
PM Modi further indicated that the last decade has witnessed a shift toward transparent, citizen-focused governance, with ongoing reforms in infrastructure and public service delivery aimed at enhancing the ease of living and empowering every segment of society.
