In the initial operation, acting on credible intelligence, ANTF Kashmir detained Ajay Kumar, the son of Joginder and a resident of Mustafabad Jattan, Gurdaspur, Punjab, in the Gangbugh area of Srinagar. During the search, they seized 42 grams of heroin from him. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the accused had acquired the drugs in Punjab and aimed to distribute them within the Gangbugh locality.
A First Information Report (FIR) No. 02/2026 has been lodged under Sections 8 and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the local police station. In a distinct operation, ANTF Kashmir arrested Jhon Masih, son of Balwinder Masih and also from Mustafabad Jatin, Gurdaspur, Punjab, in Budgam, recovering 37 grams of heroin from him.
This also led to the registration of FIR No. 03/2026 under Sections 8 and 21 of the NDPS Act at the police station. Both operations were executed based on intelligence inputs regarding the suspects' roles in inter-state drug trafficking. Further inquiries are currently in progress to trace the supply chain and identify additional participants involved in this illegal trade.
