Mumbai, July 7 (NationPress) Actress Kavita Banerjee, who currently portrays Karn Mohini in the series "Divya Prem: Pyaar Aur Rahasya Ki Kahani", expressed that she is unfazed by the prospect of being typecast as a villain.

She noted that the label does not concern her at all, stating that taking on a villainous role presents a greater challenge.

Kavita remarked, “If you're familiar with Indian television, you would recognize how swiftly actors receive labels. Even after just two shows as an antagonist, audiences begin to categorize you as a ‘villain actor.’ Transitioning between positive and negative roles does not carry the same weight of labeling. However, if your career starts with consecutive negative roles, the ‘villain label’ becomes nearly inevitable.”

She further explained that her role as Karn Mohini is not merely an ordinary antagonist - she is a grand, impactful, and powerful figure.

“And no, I’m not frightened of being typecast. In fact, portraying a villain is considerably more demanding than playing a straightforward positive character. In reality, I’m a cheerful and carefree individual, or at least I like to think so,” Banerjee added.

She shared her passion for exploring various character dimensions, emphasizing that for her, acting is about stepping outside her real-life persona.

“It’s my opportunity to truly perform and push my limits,” she noted.

Banerjee disclosed that she has primarily been cast in negative roles so far, and she is comfortable with that. However, she is also open to being envisioned in a positive role.

“I would love to delve into that aspect as well. I also wish to experiment with different character types, and I’m confident I would enjoy it. That’s the genuine thrill of being an actor: the chance to embody all sorts of characters,” she concluded.

Starring Megha Ray, Suraj Pratap Singh, and Kavita Banerjee in prominent roles, "Divya Prem: Pyaar Aur Rahasya Ki Kahani" broadcasts every night at 8:30 PM, Monday through Sunday, on Sun Neo.
