New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande criticized Sanjay Raut on Sunday, asserting that his sole focus is on generating breaking news. Raut had alleged that Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
In her comments to IANS, Kayande remarked, "Sanjay Raut seems to start each day by concocting some breaking news; he initiates his day by highlighting an issue that the media eagerly amplifies throughout the day."
She further questioned the need to sensationalize ordinary political gatherings, stating, "If such a meeting occurred, what’s the fuss? I doubt Amit Shah or Eknath Shinde would divulge meeting specifics to him."
Kayande explained, "When two prominent leaders converse, their discussions are typically confidential, and a third party cannot disclose these to someone like Sanjay Raut."
Raut, a Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha member, claimed that Deputy CM Shinde met with Home Minister Amit Shah on February 22 in Pune, expressing that he felt cornered in the Mahayuti government, with many of his prior decisions as Chief Minister being overturned by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Kayande also touched upon the potential appointment of Aaditya Thackeray as the Leader of Opposition (LOP) in the Maharashtra Assembly.
"During the Assembly elections, it was evident that the Chief Minister and the entire Cabinet would be from their coalition. Similarly, establishing the position of LOP is illogical, as even if all three opposition parties unite, they lack the necessary strength to form a legitimate opposition."
She further highlighted the constitutional significance of the LOP role, stating, "The Speaker of the Assembly, being an experienced lawyer, understands the workings of the Assembly. Appointments are made according to established rules and party strengths in the legislature. It is not merely a matter of personal choices or who suggests what. The Constitution and Assembly regulations clearly delineate this."
In light of discussions about opposition unity and positions, Kayande underscored that all such decisions should be governed by the rules and the Constitution.
