New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party's National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, stated on Friday that this marks the second raid by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on an AAP leader's location within a mere three days, prompting skepticism regarding the motives behind these operations. He further inquired about the amount of 'black money' that the central agency has managed to seize during these investigations.

Former Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, posted on social media platform 'X', expressing, "This is the second ED raid on an AAP leader's property in just three days. Can the Prime Minister clarify how much 'black money' has been confiscated from the numerous raids on AAP leaders thus far? Has even a single rupee been recovered?"

He lambasted the central government, asserting, "The entire nation is observing the trivial politics you are indulging in — purely in pursuit of power."

In a related note, Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora confirmed that an ED raid occurred at his residence.

"Good Morning! The Enforcement Directorate has conducted an operation at my location. As a responsible citizen, I will fully assist the authorities, confident that the truth will come to light," he stated.

Simultaneously, the ED executed raids at 13 locations belonging to Sanjeev Arora under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), spanning Gurugram, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar. The searches included both his residence and offices, as well as those of Hemanth Sood and Chandrasekhar Aggarwal.

According to officials, ED teams arrived at the minister’s residence early in the morning, accompanied by personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to secure the area. Investigations were also carried out at other sites associated with the minister.

This operation is reportedly linked to a longstanding money laundering probe and alleged discrepancies involving land transactions.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj responded to the situation, suggesting that the BJP seems to adopt this strategy as they gear up for state elections.

In a post on 'X', he remarked, "The ED has now targeted Punjab Minister Sanjeev Arora. This represents a clear pattern. This is how the BJP initiates its election preparations in the state."

Previously, on April 15, the ED had carried out searches at the premises of AAP Rajya Sabha MP, Ashok Kumar Mittal, and associated educational institutions run by him and his family in Haryana and Punjab under FEMA.

These raids come amidst rising political tensions between the ruling AAP in Punjab and the central government, with opposition leaders accusing central investigative agencies of biased targeting.

Point of View

This situation reflects a growing concern regarding the intersection of politics and law enforcement. The repeated actions of the ED against AAP leaders raise important questions about transparency and fairness in the political process, suggesting a potential misuse of power at the federal level.
