New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge urged citizens on Sunday to support Rahul Gandhi's mission to safeguard the nation and promote the party's core principles of truth while ensuring every voter's right to choose a government. Speaking at the Congress party’s “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhor” rally at Ramlila Maidan, he emphasized the need to back Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Congress values to protect the nation.
Focusing on the BJP, Kharge claimed they aim to dismantle the Constitution and oppress the underprivileged under the guise of Hindutva.
“If you wish to live as subordinates devoid of dignity, your end is near. It was the Congress that led the country to freedom,” he stated, pointing out that many BJP leaders were not even alive when the historic struggle for independence unfolded.
He asserted that the BJP and RSS are planting seeds of hatred through their divisive narrative, while Congress remains devoted to its principles and aims to remove the BJP from power.
He accused BJP leaders of being mere actors who cannot replicate Rahul Gandhi’s remarkable 800 km yatra, during which he engaged with the poor and showed genuine concern for them.
Referencing the Congress party's success in the recent Kerala local elections, Kharge passionately rallied chants of “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhor” and “Vande Mataram,” encouraging the populace to confront the BJP boldly. He called on every Congress worker to join the fight against those who came to power through “Vote Chori.”
Kharge reiterated that the BJP seeks to strip the impoverished of their voting rights and maintain control through unethical means.
He remarked that while the BJP often accuses Rahul Gandhi of traveling abroad post-Parliament sessions, PM Modi himself undertakes foreign trips while the House is in session, leaving questions raised by the Leader of Opposition and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra unanswered.
The Congress president also encouraged party members to remain undeterred by investigations purportedly launched against them.
Kharge highlighted that the BJP and RSS never participated in the freedom movement and are now misleading the public regarding Vande Mataram and the supposed conflicts between former PM Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi, in his speech, expressed gratitude to Congress workers for their unwavering faith in the party, assuring them, “We will ultimately remove the BJP by adhering to our principles of truth and non-violence.”
“It may take time, but in this nation, the truth ultimately prevails, following the path laid down by Mahatma Gandhi,” he asserted, framing the struggle as a clash between two ideologies.
“The battle is between their ideology, which opposes truth and yearns for power, and our ideology of truth, embedded in the essence of every citizen, along with non-violence,” he explained.
“Congress workers embody truth, whereas the BJP is rooted in ‘vote chori’,” he declared.
Holding up a copy of the Constitution, he labeled “vote theft” as an assault on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, which grants every citizen the right to choose and oust a government.
Rahul Gandhi pointed out that due to “vote theft,” the government has failed on multiple fronts, including the devastation of small businesses, poor implementation of GST, demonetization, rising unemployment, and environmental degradation.
“Their failures stem from ‘vote chori’, and they are aware that without such deceit, voters would oust them from power,” concluded Gandhi.
