Mumbai, Oct 17 (NationPress) Actress Kritika Kamra, who is set to star in an upcoming film directed by Anusha Rizvi, expressed that a narrative does not always require “explosions or twists” to evoke emotions; sometimes, “all it takes is honesty.”
The film, which remains untitled, is situated in Delhi and revolves around an ordinary family tackling generational divides, belonging, and sisterhood, infused with gentle humor and deep emotional truths.
Discussing the importance of such narratives, Kritika shared with IANS: “In the midst of grand spectacles, we often overlook the simple charm of everyday stories—those that mirror our lives, our families, and our small victories and setbacks.”
“Working on this film with Anusha has rekindled that for me. It’s grounded in simplicity and emotion, which is what makes it exceptional. You don’t need explosions or twists for a story to resonate; sometimes, it’s simply about honesty.”
Kritika firmly believes there exists a “huge audience craving that comfort and connection.”
She noted that Hindi cinema has traditionally thrived when it introspects, especially when it highlights human relationships, humor in the mundane, and warmth in imperfections.
“These are the films that linger in your mind long after the credits roll. I yearn for that depth in our current films. Engaging in a project that feels both familiar and innovative is what captivated me.”
She added, “I hope this film brings back memories of how cinema used to evoke feelings of being seen, understood, and at home.”
The forthcoming project by Rizvi features talented women such as Juhu Babbar and Shreya Dhanwanthary. The untitled film was filmed extensively in Delhi and is currently undergoing post-production.
Kritika is also involved in Matka King, featuring Vijay Varma. Directed by Nagraj Manjule, known for “Sairat” and “Fandry”, Matka King is set against the gritty backdrop of 1960s Mumbai.
“Matka King” is anticipated to narrate the story of a resourceful cotton trader in Mumbai who launches a new gambling game called Matka, revolutionizing the city and opening a domain that was once only accessible to the affluent.
The series also stars Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav in pivotal roles, among others. Written by Abhay Koranne and Nagraj Manjule, the project is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Manjule, Gargi Kulkarni, Ashish Aryan, and Ashwini Sidwani under the Roy Kapur Films banner.
