Bengaluru, July 18 (NationPress) In light of a bomb threat email sent to over 40 private schools in Bengaluru on Friday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the government's seriousness regarding the incident and announced plans to implement new legislation aimed at combating the dissemination of false information.
Addressing the media in Mysuru, CM Siddaramaiah stated, "I became aware this morning of the bomb threats directed at over 40 schools through email. I have instructed the police to investigate whether this is a hoax."
When questioned about the increasing frequency of false threats aimed at educational institutions, CM Siddaramaiah remarked, "We are in the process of introducing new legislation to address this issue. The upcoming law will target individuals who disseminate false information and incite messages."
In response to the situation, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara commented in Bengaluru, "I remember past incidents involving threats made via calls and emails. We will validate today's bomb threat email. We are treating this matter with utmost seriousness, as any threat could potentially be genuine."
The police have initiated verification processes at the schools, and thorough inspections will be conducted across all affected institutions, he added.
At the same time, parents of students in the schools receiving the email threats hurried to collect their children. Nevertheless, most school administrations resumed classes after conducting inspections or relocated students to different buildings within the premises.
Reports also indicated that parents from schools that did not receive bomb threats were rushing to retrieve their children out of concern.
A bomb threat email was dispatched to over 40 private schools in Bengaluru earlier in the day. In an effort to ensure safety, police and personnel from pertinent departments quickly arrived at the schools and initiated a search operation following the evacuation of students. The bomb disposal squad and canine units also joined in to conduct inspections.
The threat email originated from the address "roadkill333@atomicmail.io". The sender claimed in the email: "Hello, I am writing to inform you that I have placed several explosive devices (Trinitrotoluene) within the school classrooms."
The message further stated in capital letters, "I will eliminate every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive. I will take pleasure in watching the news, only to see parents arriving at the school to be met by the cold, dismembered bodies of their children. You all deserve to suffer. I genuinely hate my life, and I will take my own life after the news breaks. I will slit my throat and my wrists. I was never truly helped. Psychiatrists, psychologists, no one has ever cared, and no one will ever care. You only care about medicating the helpless and clueless. Psychiatrists never mention that those medications damage your organs or cause significant weight gain."
The email continued, "You brainwash individuals into believing psychiatric medications can assist them. But they do not. I am living proof that they do not. You all deserve this. You should suffer just like I do."
Further updates regarding the incident are awaited.
Previously, on December 1, 2023, over 15 private schools in Bengaluru also received bomb threats via email, which were later confirmed to be hoaxes.
