On Instagram, Dhawan Rakesh shared seven images featuring him presenting a bouquet to Rahul Gandhi and engaging in conversation with him.
In the images, Dhawan Rakesh is also seen with AICC National General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar, Minister Byrathi Suresh, and other notable figures.
In his Instagram caption, Dhawan Rakesh expressed, "On August 8th, I had the privilege of meeting Sri Rahul Gandhi Ji, our Leader of Opposition. This meeting was made possible by my grandfather, who understands my admiration for leaders committed to integrity in a field that seldom rewards it."
"Politics has always been part of my background, but meeting someone who has endured significant challenges yet continues to advocate for his beliefs was a unique experience. During our brief chat, I shared my respect for him, and as a student and aspiring lawyer, I wish to join him in promoting that vision," he added.
"We need to be more discerning and admire leaders who prioritize transparency. Just as Rahul Gandhi interacts openly with the public and media, we, too, should embrace dialogue. I will always welcome such engagement," Dhawan Rakesh emphasized.
Dhawan Rakesh is the son of CM Siddaramaiah's late eldest son, Rakesh Siddaramaiah, who was managing local affairs for his father.
Rakesh Siddaramaiah sadly passed away on July 30, 2016, at the age of 39 due to multiple organ failure at Antwerp University Hospital in Brussels, Belgium, where he was receiving treatment for a pancreatic condition.
Rakesh had been on a personal trip to Europe starting July 21, 2016, and had attended the Tomorrowland music festival in Belgium. He was hospitalized after experiencing sudden health issues. Upon receiving news of his son’s condition, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, along with his wife Parvathi and younger son Yathindra, who is a doctor, traveled to Brussels to support him.
Rakesh is survived by his wife and two children. At the time of his passing, he was reportedly contemplating a political career and was expected to run for elections in his father’s Varuna constituency.
