Bengaluru, Nov 20 (NationPress) In light of the discussions surrounding potential leadership changes after the Congress-led government in Karnataka has reached the halfway mark in its tenure, Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated on Thursday that the Congress High Command has neither indicated any leadership shifts in the state nor have such matters been addressed in the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting.
During a press conference in Bengaluru, Parameshwara provided this insight.
When asked about a possible Cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka, he remarked: "Any decisions must originate from the Congress High Command. They are the ones who will decide on matters such as a Cabinet reshuffle. They know that we have now been in power for two-and-a-half years."
The State Home Minister emphasized, "There is no necessity to assign special significance to the two-and-a-half-year milestone. No one from our High Command has communicated about any leadership changes."
"Simply stating things independently does not lend them any significance. It is only when the High Command articulates something that it truly matters. They have not mentioned anything regarding a Cabinet reshuffle, a change in Chief Minister, or related issues," Parameshwara asserted.
"Should the High Command provide direction, we will heed their words. Until then, there is no reason to attribute importance to any speculations. Nothing has been discussed in the Legislature Party meeting," he clarified.
"Over the past two-and-a-half years, our Congress-led government in Karnataka has prioritized fulfilling our commitments to the public," Parameshwara stated.
He further noted that the implementation of the guarantee schemes has been a priority in Karnataka.
"Moving forward, we must aim to rectify unnecessary financial expenditures," he added.
"The Central government has allocated us less funding than entitled. Our share of GST has diminished. Timely release of funds for projects in collaboration with the Centre has been an issue," he mentioned.
"A significant portion of the funds for the Jal Jeevan Mission remains pending. While they claim that every household in the country is receiving drinking water, the financial burden is primarily shouldered by the state government," Parameshwara pointed out.
"The Chief Minister, who is also an experienced Finance Minister, is preparing the budget for the 17th time. After discussing these matters, we must make some financial decisions for the state," he added.
Parameshwara is recognized as a prominent Dalit leader within the Congress party.
Supporters of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have previously indicated that if a leadership change were to occur, senior Congress leader Parameshwara should be the one to take on the role of Chief Minister of Karnataka.
