An official communiqué from Kumaraswamy's office noted, "The meeting took place at the office of Union Forest Minister Bhupender Yadav within the Parliament House. During their discussions, H.D. Kumaraswamy voiced deep concern regarding the escalating cases of elephant attacks in multiple districts such as Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Shivamogga, and others across Karnataka.
He highlighted that ongoing wildlife encroachments have led to tragic loss of human life, particularly among farmers near forest borders and those involved in livestock farming. Numerous individuals have suffered serious injuries, some resulting in permanent disabilities.
Stressing that the situation has reached critical levels in Karnataka, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy emphasized the urgent necessity for a sustainable, long-term policy intervention.
Responding to these pressing issues, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav assured that this matter would receive prompt and prioritized attention. He requested detailed insights from H.D. Kumaraswamy and directed officials to devise and implement suitable remedial strategies, the statement indicated.
The Union Forest Minister further instructed relevant officials to provide a comprehensive report regarding the situation before the conclusion of the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, reiterating the Government’s dedication to ensuring swift action.
During their meeting, both ministers engaged in extensive discussions regarding their respective ministries. Their talks centered on enhancing inter-departmental collaboration, expediting key development projects, and bolstering institutional cooperation.
They also assessed the progress of the steel sector, acknowledging the valuable support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in promoting sustainable industrial growth, the statement added.
In the meantime, Kumaraswamy also utilized social media platform X to convey that he met with Union Minister for Railways, Electronics and Information Technology, and Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, to discuss essential development and governance matters. Key deliberations were held concerning the Bengaluru–Pune High-Speed Rail corridor, the proposed new Bengaluru–Mumbai connection, and implementing railway fencing and block corridors to avert animal-related accidents.
Kumaraswamy further mentioned that he reviewed all pending railway projects concerning Mandya and statewide initiatives, urging for a halt for the Wodeyar Express at Ramanagar. He also highlighted the necessity for improved Aadhaar services and infrastructure in Mandya district to guarantee timely access for residents.
It is noteworthy that Kumaraswamy represents the Mandya Lok Sabha seat.
