Kumaraswamy Critiques K’taka Government Over 2.94 Lakh Vacant Positions
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 24 (NationPress) Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy raised alarms on Tuesday regarding the state government’s inability to address the issue of vacant government positions, cautioning that the administration should not underestimate the protests emanating from the ranks of unemployed youth.
He emphasized that the government must acknowledge the substantial number of job seekers who have resorted to demonstrations in Dharwad. The youth's protests are a direct consequence of the government's failure to timely fill available positions.
Kumaraswamy lent his support to the protesting youth, encouraging them to maintain the peace during their demonstrations and assuring them of his solidarity.
He disclosed that there are currently 2.94 lakh vacant government roles across the state, while only cabinet-level positions are being filled at a “super-fast” pace, highlighting what he perceives as the Congress government's misplaced priorities.
A report from the Karnataka Administrative Reforms Commission, led by R.V. Deshpande, indicates that there are 7 lakh unemployed individuals in the state awaiting government job opportunities. He criticized the government's negligence over the past three years, which has been consumed by internal conflicts rather than focusing on the youth's needs.
Kumaraswamy warned that unemployment is not merely a trivial issue but a potential crisis that could escalate. He insisted that the government should have acted by now by designating specific funds in the budget and commencing the recruitment process.
He pointed out the highest vacancies are found in the education, health, and police sectors.
Additionally, he claimed that 18 key police stations in Bengaluru lack inspectors, a situation he attributes to the government's fixation on transfer-related matters.
These circumstances are adversely impacting governance, and he urged the government to promptly address the vacant positions.
Kumaraswamy also called upon the government to descend from the third floor of Vidhana Soudha and truly listen to the youth's grievances, warning that failure to do so would result in consequences for the Congress administration.
