New Delhi, Oct 11 (NationPress) India is set to host the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries (UNTCC) Chiefs’ conclave from October 14 to 16, in New Delhi.
This significant event will gather over 30 Military Chiefs from various nations to discuss the evolving challenges of peacekeeping, share best practices, and prepare for future missions.
In a video statement, Tariel Otonbaev, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan, expressed his anticipation for the trip, saying, "I am looking forward to visiting the Republic of India and participating in the conclave of the United Nations Troops Contributing Countries."
He continued, "Since 1997, the Kyrgyz Republic has been a proud contributor to the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. We see this conclave as an opportunity to enhance collaboration among nations, promote global peace and security, and advance United Nations objectives."
Otonbaev also expressed hope that the discussions at the conclave would yield fruitful outcomes to support UN Peacekeeping Missions.
Notably, Chiefs and representatives from various countries will participate in the UNTCC conclave in New Delhi, including nations like Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, France, Italy, Algeria, Armenia, Brazil, Burundi, Cambodia, Cote D’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Uruguay, Vietnam, Rwanda, and Senegal, along with India.
It's important to note that due to the current strained relations between India and Bangladesh since the establishment of the interim government, the Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman is expected to be absent from the conclave.
Sources have indicated that “the Bangladesh Army Chief may not attend this conference and could be substituted by a junior officer.”
