Bengaluru, April 3 (NationPress) In a thrilling turn of events, a leopard made its way into a residence located in Kuntlu Reddy Layout in Jigani, on the outskirts of Bengaluru this past Thursday. Fortunately, the family inside managed to escape unscathed by securing the animal in a room.
The homeowner, Venkatesh, along with his wife, Venkatalaxmi, and their son, Nikhil, successfully exited the house after confining the leopard to one of the rooms. They promptly reached out to the police and the Forest Department to report the situation.
Following a five-hour rescue operation amid rainfall, authorities successfully tranquilized the leopard and placed it in a cage.
Numerous locals gathered nearby to observe the rescue efforts and applauded the officials' hard work.
Venkatesh first noticed the leopard entering the house around 8 a.m. while he was with his wife. Instead of succumbing to panic, he calmly guided his family outside. Meanwhile, the leopard sought refuge beneath a cot in the bedroom. A team led by anaesthesia expert Dr. Kiran located the leopard and administered a tranquilizer shot.
Once sedated, the leopard was securely placed in a cage brought to the scene by the Forest Department.
Speaking to the media after the operation, Venkatesh remarked: “The leopard entered our house early in the morning. We had put a plywood board at the door, but it managed to leap over it and get inside. Thankfully, I was able to close the door afterward. Given that our home is near the forest, we must remain vigilant about wildlife activity. By God's grace, nothing adverse happened, and everything concluded safely.”
Venkatalaxmi shared: “I was watching television with my husband when the leopard suddenly came through the main door. I caught a glimpse of its tail and immediately alerted my husband. He quickly led us outside and secured the door. Thankfully, the leopard was captured without any harm to anyone.”
Recently, there have been multiple reports of leopard sightings and attacks in the vicinity of Bengaluru, including a tragic incident involving a woman in Nelamangala, which has raised concerns and prompted increased vigilance among residents.
A 50-year-old woman lost her life in a leopard attack near Shivagange Hills in Nelamangala taluk of Bengaluru Rural district while collecting fodder for her cattle on November 19 last year.
