Delhi High Court Lawyers’ Canteen Halts Main Course Meals Due to LPG Shortage
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 11 (NationPress) The Lawyers’ Canteen at the Delhi High Court has halted the serving of main course meals temporarily due to a shortage of LPG gas cylinders, as stated in a notice released by the canteen's management on Wednesday.
In a communication directed to the Secretary of the Delhi High Court Bar Association, the canteen management explained that the ongoing disruption in the LPG supply has rendered it impossible to prepare the usual hot meals.
"We wish to inform you that owing to the current unavailability of LPG gas cylinders, we are unable to prepare and serve the main course dishes at the Lawyers’ Canteen," the notice indicated.
The management further noted that there is no definitive information regarding when the gas supply will be restored.
"At this time, we lack any details on when the LPG supply will resume. We will recommence the preparation of main course meals as soon as the gas supply is reinstated," it stated.
Nonetheless, the canteen will continue to offer other food items that do not require cooking.
"We will still serve various food options such as sandwiches, salads, fruit chaats, and similar refreshments," the notice mentioned.
The canteen management expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and has requested the patience and understanding of Bar members until the gas supply situation normalizes.
The shortage of commercial LPG cylinders, driven by disruptions in the global oil and gas market amid escalating tensions in West Asia, has started to impact services and is leading to crowds at gas agencies. In addition to the rise in domestic cooking gas prices, restrictions have been imposed on the distribution of commercial LPG, prioritizing essential institutions like schools and hospitals.
Consequently, numerous hotels, canteens, and restaurants are facing challenges in obtaining commercial gas cylinders.
