Bhopal, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh has characterized the 2026–27 Budget, presented by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, as inclusive and results-driven. Describing the Rs 4,38,317 crore budget as a detailed roadmap for the state's advancement, the BJP leadership noted the government's decisive measures aimed at the comprehensive development of Madhya Pradesh. Hemant Khandelwal, President of the state BJP, expressed his approval of the budget, emphasizing the increase in Madhya Pradesh’s per capita income from Rs 1,41,000 to Rs 1,69,000 over the last two years, a testament to the government's effective economic policies and development efforts.
Khandelwal further highlighted the allocation of over Rs 23,000 crore for the 'Ladli Behna Yojana', designed to enhance financial support for women. Significant attention has also been given to constructing 5,700 hostels for working women, ensuring their safety, welfare, and pension benefits.
The budget includes provisions for empowering youth with loan facilities of Rs 25,000 crore, along with an allocation of Rs 815 crore for promoting sports development. For rural development, over Rs 21,000 crore has been designated for improving road infrastructure. In education, plans are underway to establish 294 new schools, thereby bolstering the state's educational framework,” Khandelwal stated during a media briefing.
Discussing the government's commitment to rural development, Khandelwal mentioned a provision of Rs 10,000 crore for the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), aimed at enhancing livelihood opportunities and fortifying rural economies. He added that both the central and state governments are collaborating to empower villages and foster decentralized development.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla reiterated that the budget aligns with the vision of creating a 'developed Madhya Pradesh' and is in harmony with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘GYAN’ vision.
Shukla also emphasized the allocation of Rs 23,747 crore for the healthcare sector in the 2026–27 financial year, aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure and improving access to medical services.
According to Shukla, “The Rs 23,747 crore allocation for health reflects the state government’s commitment to delivering quality and affordable healthcare services.” He highlighted that Rs 4,600 crore is allocated under the National Health Mission, Rs 3,056 crore for medical colleges and associated hospitals, Rs 2,049 crore for district and civil hospitals, and Rs 1,934 crore for primary health centres, all aimed at fortifying the healthcare system at various levels.
Shukla noted that new medical colleges are being set up with private sector involvement, and recruitment for thousands of doctor and nursing positions is currently underway, which is projected to enhance healthcare access and service delivery throughout the state.
He concluded by stating that the budget prioritizes strengthening health infrastructure and expanding medical education facilities to cater to the growing healthcare demands.
