Bhopal, Oct 27 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh BJP president Hemant Khandelwal stated on Monday that the government led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will enforce stringent measures against individuals engaging in criminal conduct.
Khandelwal's remarks followed the involvement of BJP leader Mahendra Singh Nagar in the murder of Ram Swaroop Nagar, a farmer from the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh, which occurred on Sunday.
He emphasized that the BJP does not endorse such actions and asserted, "I became aware of this situation today. Regardless of whether it pertains to the party or the government, we enforce strict actions if any such incident arises," Khandelwal told IANS.
He added that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s administration is committed to decisive action and that strict measures are guaranteed against those accountable for such incidents.
In the interim, Dharmendra Sikarwar, the BJP head in Guna district, confirmed Nagar’s affiliation with the party and has requested his immediate removal.
"Mahendra Nagar is a party member and serves as the local booth chief. We've reached out to senior party officials to facilitate his swift expulsion," Sikarwar stated.
Reportedly, Mahendra Nagar was one of the Congress members who transitioned to the BJP in 2020 after Jyotiraditya Scindia and 22 allied MLAs departed the party, leading to the downfall of the Kamal Nath-led administration.
Guna is one of the three districts in the Gwalior-Chambal region, represented in the Lok Sabha by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Meanwhile, SDOP Vivek Asthana informed IANS that Mahender Nagar and his relatives brutally assaulted Ram Swaroop with sticks and rods, resulting in severe injuries that led to his demise during treatment.
"14 individuals have been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including murder. One suspect has been detained while efforts to locate the others are ongoing," he added.
