Guna, Oct 27 (NationPress) In a decisive midnight announcement on X, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav addressed the heinous murder of a farmer in Guna, expressing both sorrow and a firm resolve.

“My heartfelt condolences go to the bereaved family,” he stated, followed by a stern ultimatum: “No wrongdoer will escape justice.”

In a matter of hours, authorities filed charges against 14 individuals, made one arrest, and activated the state's law enforcement apparatus. What started as a land dispute in Ganeshpura village escalated into a tragic loss of life, transforming into a critical governance challenge for the Chief Minister.

Ankit Soni, the superintendent of police (Guna), confirmed the capture of one suspect, Hukum Singh, and the initiation of a manhunt for others, including Mahendra Nagar, Jitendra Nagar, Kanhaiyalal Nagar, and several more.

A long-standing land conflict in Ganeshpura village, under the jurisdiction of Fatehgarh police station, culminated in the brutal killing of 40-year-old farmer Ramswaroop Dhakad, leaving his family in devastation.

Reports indicate that on Sunday afternoon, while Dhakad was heading to his fields with his wife Vindo Bai, they were violently confronted by a mob led by local BJP booth committee president Mahendra Nagar, who was accompanied by his relatives, including his sons Nitesh and Devendra, wife Kamlesh Bai, nephew Jitendra, along with around a dozen others, including women.

Eyewitness accounts described a horrifying scene. The attackers, wielding sticks, rods, and firearms, closed in on Dhakad and unleashed a brutal attack, leaving him injured with multiple fractures.

In a final act of cruelty, Nagar allegedly ran over Dhakad with a Thar jeep, causing fatal injuries. When Vindo Bai and their two 17-year-old daughters, Tanisha and Krishna, attempted to intervene, the mob turned on them, assaulting the women and firing shots to intimidate other villagers.

Police reports also indicate that Dhakad's maternal uncle, Rajendra Nagar, who tried to assist, was also attacked. The assailants held the village hostage at gunpoint for nearly an hour, preventing locals from taking Dhakad to a nearby health facility.

It was only after persistent appeals that they allowed the critically injured family to be transported to Guna District Hospital. Unfortunately, Dhakad succumbed either during transit or upon arrival, his body bearing severe trauma. However, SP Ankit Soni later stated, “the victim died during treatment.”

The survivors—Vindo Bai, Tanisha, Krishna, and Rajendra—are currently receiving treatment for fractures, lacerations, and psychological trauma, with the daughters particularly affected by the incident.

The conflict stemmed from a protracted dispute over six bighas of farmland located in the neighboring Pachlavara village, Baran district of Rajasthan, which belonged to Dhakad's maternal uncle, Pappu Nagar. Kanhaiya, a relative of Nagar, had been pressuring the family to give up the land, but Dhakad's unwavering refusal—against allegations of Nagar's long-standing intimidation—forced at least 25 small farmers to sell their properties at meager prices and abandon Ganeshpura.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who also oversees the home portfolio, denounced the “tragic” murder as a blemish on the state's law and order.

“Anyone engaging in criminal activities will face consequences,” he emphasized, ordering police and district officials to pursue the investigation with the utmost diligence.

An FIR has been lodged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder, conspiracy, assault, and violating women's modesty against 14 named individuals, including the Nagars, plus four unidentified suspects.

Hukum Singh, Mahendra's elder sibling, was arrested late Sunday, while the confiscated Thar jeep displayed bloodstains linking it to the incident. Raids are ongoing for those who remain at large, with Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vivek Asthana promising forensic examinations and witness protection.

The local BJP unit has recognized Mahendra Nagar's involvement as a former Kisan Morcha office-bearer who defected from Congress in 2020, calling for his swift expulsion.

State BJP president Hemant Khandelwal echoed the Chief Minister’s sentiments, asserting, “Our government will hold every criminal accountable, regardless of their affiliations.” Conversely, the opposition Congress, represented by Bamori MLA Rishi Agrawal, condemned the incident as a “Lakhimpur Kheri rerun,” accusing the ruling party of protecting land mafia and promoting impunity.

“Violence, looting, and assaults are rampant under this administration,” Agrawal charged, calling for a high-level judicial inquiry and intervention from Scindia, given Guna's significance in his Lok Sabha constituency.

Villagers, fearful of retaliation, whispered about Nagar's unchecked authority, where dissent could lead to devastation.

As Dhakad's remains were cremated amidst cries of sorrow, his daughters’ heart-wrenching testimonies—“They sat on me, tore my clothes, and fired at us”—amplified the urgent calls for justice.
