Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav Dismisses Sidhi Collector and Guna SP Amid Controversies
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, March 22 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, has taken decisive action by dismissing Sidhi Collector Swarochit Somvanshi and Guna Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Soni immediately due to two distinct incidents, while also mandating actions against multiple other officials.
The removal of Guna SP Ankit Soni came in light of a controversy involving hawala transactions. Reports indicated that police had confiscated approximately Rs 1 crore from a trader's vehicle but allegedly returned a portion of the seized money in exchange for a bribe.
This incident attracted significant criticism, leading to an internal investigation, which is currently being overseen by senior officials, including those at the DIG rank.
Following a report from senior police authorities, Chief Minister Yadav commanded Soni’s removal. Additionally, several police staff members—including an assistant sub-inspector and constables—were suspended due to their suspected roles in the matter.
Hitika Vasal, who serves as Commandant of the 15th Battalion in Indore, has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police for Guna.
In another significant move, the Chief Minister ordered the dismissal of Sidhi Collector Swarochit Somvanshi after receiving complaints from public representatives during his visit to the district.
During this visit, CM Yadav engaged with local residents to evaluate governance and the execution of government initiatives at the grassroots level.
He reviewed the grievances raised by citizens and sought insights on the performance of the district administration and various departments.
In response to the complaints, CM Yadav also instructed the immediate suspension of the General Manager of the District Cooperative Bank, P.S. Dhanwal.
The Chief Minister asserted that further actions would be taken based on the complaints submitted. He emphasized, “Negligence by officials and employees will not be tolerated under any circumstances, in line with the state’s commitment to good governance.”
Moreover, CM Yadav expressed dissatisfaction regarding the slow pace of construction of the Collectorate building in Sidhi. He directed the officials to accelerate the work and ensure that it is completed within the designated timeline, while adhering to quality standards.
