Bhopal, March 21 (NationPress) Congress MLAs on Friday questioned the absence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in the Assembly during critical discussions regarding the home department of Madhya Pradesh, which falls under his jurisdiction.
The Opposition members expressed their discontent over the fact that CM Yadav, who oversees the home department, was missing during a significant dialogue concerning the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh highlighted that for the past year, there have been numerous serious crimes, including the killing of police personnel without repercussions.
Singh pointed out that recent incidents in Mauganj and Mhow exemplify the failure of law enforcement in Madhya Pradesh.
"Why are major incidents occurring every one or two weeks? This indicates that the situation is spiraling out of control. I was taken aback today that while all members were discussing the home department, CM Mohan Yadav, who is also the Madhya Pradesh home minister, was absent from the House," Singh remarked to IANS at the Assembly.
Jaivardhan, son of former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, urged Yadav to delegate the home department's responsibilities to someone more capable.
"It has become clear that Mohan Yadav cannot maintain the state's law and order. The situation is deteriorating daily. He should transfer control to another individual. What’s preventing him from doing so?" Singh added.
Initially, the Opposition MLAs criticized CM Yadav after Congress MLA Abhay Mishra from Semaria reported that his family members were being targeted with false charges by the police.
Other Congress MLAs, including Aajay Singh, demanded strict action against police personnel who were allegedly harassing the families of MLAs. Singh claimed that the police were acting under the direction of BJP leaders.
Notably, BJP leader and Minister of State for Public Health and Medical Education, Narendra Shivaji Patel, also shared that his son faced harassment from a police officer on fabricated charges, becoming emotional while recounting the incident in the Assembly.
