Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Jan 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, declared on Wednesday that the state government has rolled out the ‘VB-G RAM G’ initiative, which was introduced by the NDA government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party after a lively discussion in Parliament last December.
Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that the Madhya Pradesh government is fully prepared to commit 40 percent of the financial resources required to put the scheme into action. “The Centre has allocated funds in a 60/40 ratio under this scheme, and Madhya Pradesh is ready to contribute its 40 percent,” he stated.
During a press briefing at the state BJP office in Bhopal, Yadav remarked that Madhya Pradesh ranks as the second-largest state by area and is also agriculturally rich. “This initiative will create job opportunities and drive development, particularly in rural sectors,” he added.
He noted that there had previously been considerable uncertainty regarding the financial distribution between the Centre and the states; however, the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clarified that funding will be shared in a 60/40 ratio.
In response to the opposition's claims about renaming the ‘MGNAREGA’ scheme to ‘VB-G RAM G’, Chief Minister Yadav specified that the BJP government has rebranded the initiative with a focus on growth. “It is the opposition's role to question; we are open to their constructive feedback for the successful implementation of the scheme in Madhya Pradesh. This renaming is not unprecedented,” Yadav remarked.
Furthermore, Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Hemant Kahndelwal accused the opposition of misleading the public with “false” and “groundless” claims regarding the new Act, asserting that 50 percent of the work will be determined by the Grampanchayats.
“The new Act explicitly states that up to 50 percent of the work under the G RAM G scheme will be decided by the Grampanchayats, so there is no room for confusion. The Congress party is attempting to mislead the public, but the facts are clear and the community understands them,” Khandewal added.
Significantly, the ‘Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025, which replaces the longstanding MGNREGA, has been put into effect after receiving the essential approval from the President and introduces a new rural employment framework.
This Act increases the statutory wage employment guarantee to 125 days per fiscal year for rural households. It aims to promote empowerment, inclusive growth, integration of development efforts, and a saturation-based delivery approach.
The ruling BJP leaders assert that the new scheme will enhance income security for rural households, modernize governance and accountability, and connect wage employment with the establishment of sustainable and productive rural assets. The government seeks to lay down the groundwork for a flourishing and resilient rural India.
