Bhopal, March 17 (NationPress) The government of Madhya Pradesh has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Jal Shakti for the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 during a ceremony held in New Delhi.
This agreement was finalized in the presence of Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Paatil and Sampatiya Uikey, the Minister of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) for Madhya Pradesh, alongside senior officials from the state. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participated in the event virtually from Bhopal.
In response to this significant development, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of bolstering rural drinking water supplies and creating a sustainable, transparent, and service-oriented system.
He also announced that the budget for the initiative has been elevated to Rs 8.69 lakh crore, with the Central government contributing Rs 3.59 lakh crore.
Yadav stated that the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti will manage the entire infrastructure setup—from laying pipelines to building essential facilities—to guarantee that drinking water is accessible to every inhabitant of rural areas.
The scheme's core mission aims to extend water supply and conservation efforts to even the tiniest villages through the active involvement of Gram Panchayats.
Yadav expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Madhya Pradesh to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central government for endorsing Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0.
He highlighted that this initiative represents a monumental advancement in ensuring safe and clean drinking water for rural communities.
Furthermore, Yadav assured that all rural tap-water projects initiated under the Mission in Madhya Pradesh are being carried out with a strong emphasis on quality, with a goal to finalize them within the set timelines.
The Chief Minister is optimistic that, with the guidance of Union Minister C.R. Patil, the state government will successfully accomplish all objectives of the Jal Jeevan Mission by December 2028.
He concluded that the MoU is a crucial step toward guaranteeing a consistent tap-water supply for every rural household while enhancing service quality, achieving timely goals, and fortifying digital monitoring along with institutionalizing transparency and accountability.
