Nagpur, March 31 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, announced on Monday that the state government will provide support for the creation of an Excellence Centre dedicated to Vedic Mathematics. He highlighted the need for establishing a high-quality centre at Bharati Krishna Vidya Vihar School to promote research in this field.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the state's education department will consider positively the introduction of Vedic Mathematics as a subject for students.
CM Fadnavis delivered these remarks during the event marking the launch of two volumes of Vedic Mathematics authored by Adi Shankaracharya Krishna Tirtha Maharaj, with the presence of Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, the head of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
He stated, “The foundation of various sciences that developed in India is rooted in mathematics. This knowledge will be presented in a new light through the new Vedic mathematics volumes. It is crucial to impart the significance and application of Vedic Mathematics to future generations. Hence, a quality centre for Vedic mathematics at Bharati Krishna Vidya Vihar School is essential, and the government will extend full support for this initiative,” the Chief Minister declared.
Bharati Krishna Vidya Vihar School is operated by Vishwa Punarnirman Sangh.
CM Fadnavis remarked that numerous significant scientific studies have their origins in ancient Indian culture. However, due to historical circumstances and foreign invasions, this scientific knowledge was not widely disseminated.
“Adi Shankaracharya Krishna Tirtha Maharaj has systematically arranged the entirety of mathematics in a simplified manner through the Vedic Mathematics volumes after thoroughly studying the Vedas. This book has been incorporated into the curriculum for Classes V to VII of the Central Board of Secondary Education. Through these volumes, Shankaracharya has unveiled the rich knowledge embedded in the Vedas. Vedic Mathematics represents an invaluable treasure of knowledge for India,” he added.
Mohan Bhagwat emphasized that calculations and statistics hold unique and universal significance in various aspects of human life.
He illustrated the importance of mathematics with references from the Nal-Damayanti story, Mahabharata, as well as Sankhyadarshan and the Vakracharana index.
“The concept of Vedic mathematics, originating from ancient Indian traditions, is intended for the welfare of the world. It can play a crucial role in the transformations and restructuring occurring globally based on spirituality and contribute significantly to global happiness and prosperity,” he observed.
