Mahakumbh Nagar, Jan 28 (NationPress) The government of Uttar Pradesh has initiated several significant measures aimed at ensuring the Mahakumbh Mela remains clean and plastic-free.
Not only has the administration launched a campaign to raise awareness among the public, but it has also implemented various initiatives to render Prayagraj city and the fair grounds free from plastic. A notable initiative is the introduction of cloth bag vending machines, allowing visitors to purchase a cloth bag for merely Rs 10 by inserting a 10 rupee coin.
Three of these machines have been strategically placed in the Kumbh area. In addition, these bags can also be conveniently obtained via online payment methods. This effort encourages attendees to forsake plastic bags and contributes to the goal of a plastic-free Mahakumbh Mela.
Abhishek, a visitor from Bengaluru, commended the government's initiatives, stating, 'I traveled from Karnataka and first visited Varanasi. I then reached Prayagraj via the Vande Bharat train. Here in Prayagraj, we have observed a remarkably clean environment. The installation of these cloth bag machines promotes cleanliness, making it affordable to celebrate a plastic-free Mahakumbh.'
Local resident Santosh Kumar remarked, 'I have never witnessed such a high standard of cleanliness before. The arrangements for this Kumbh are exceptional. Whether it’s the police or other officials, everyone is diligently performing their duties. The Yogi and Modi administrations deserve accolades for facilitating such excellent arrangements. The impact of the 'double engine government' is evident in Kumbh. The cleanliness level has significantly improved compared to previous years.'
He added, 'The cleanliness measures in Prayagraj are better than ever before. The government has imposed a complete ban on plastic bags and has made cloth bags accessible through banks. Dustbins have been installed in numerous locations, ensuring the environment is kept tidy. Pollution levels are also on the decline. The government has executed a commendable job concerning the overall arrangements.'
