Mahakumbh 2025: Numerous Organizations to Offer Free Community Meals

Prayagraj, Dec 20 (NationPress) The upcoming Mahakumbh 2025, recognized as the most significant assembly of the Sanatan faith, is expected to draw a crowd of 40-45 crore devotees from various parts of the nation and the globe, congregating to take a sacred bath at the Triveni Sangam.

In addition to the ritualistic bathing, the act of charity, particularly in the form of food distribution, holds considerable spiritual value during this religious event. In alignment with this tradition, numerous organizations are set to host bhandaras (community kitchens) throughout the month-long festivities, providing complimentary meals to attendees.

Beginning on January 13, the fairgrounds will feature a variety of bhandaras, ensuring that no guest leaves hungry. Some organizations have already initiated their services, while others are preparing to launch food distribution hubs.

Prominent entities such as Akshaya Patra, ISKCON, and Om Namah Shivay are poised to serve vast numbers of devotees through their langars and community kitchens.

As stated by Prayagraj Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, it is anticipated that between 8,000 to 10,000 organizations will partake in this Mahakumbh.

"Representatives from almost every religious sect in the country will be welcomed by the fair administration, with extensive arrangements made for their involvement. To further assist the devotees, the administration has set up Fair Price Shops, offering essential food items at reasonable prices, ensuring a smooth and rewarding experience for all participants in this spiritual event," he remarked.

According to Vivek Chaturvedi, ADM Mahakumbh, bathing and giving in Prayagraj holds particular importance during events like the Kumbh.

"During these festivals, numerous organizations step forward to arrange free langars and bhandaras, providing meals to millions of devotees. The community feasts are located at major intersections, corners, and streets throughout the city. Accurately estimating their total number is challenging, as both organizations and local residents actively engage in these charitable efforts," he noted.

One such bhandara commenced on December 1 near Digambar Akhara, organized by All India Panchterah Tyagi, Khakchowk (Ram Santosh Das Ji Maharaj). Mahant Gopal Das stated that free meals will be available for all visitors leading up to and throughout the Mahakumbh. The bhandara operates from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with tea served to devotees starting at 4 a.m.

Likewise, food distribution at Juna Akhara in Sector 20 will initiate on December 25. According to Mrityunjay Puri of Shri Hinglaj Math Alag Darbar, their food service will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., ensuring that no devotee goes hungry.

Mahant Satyagiri, National Secretary of Awahan Akhara, mentioned that food distribution has already begun and will persist throughout the Mahakumbh, with free meals offered to all devotees.

Raghuvansh Seva Sankalp Trust from Ayodhya is also launching a food distribution initiative, operating 24 hours a day and providing food prasad to all devotees visiting for the sacred dip at Sangam.

Similarly, the Maa Reva Foundation from Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, will offer a 24-hour food distribution service during the Mahakumbh, named Ananya Anna Kshetra, ensuring that devotees receive prasad throughout the 45-day festival.
