This green initiative, comprising 150,000 plants, not only beautifies the area but also guarantees a plentiful supply of oxygen, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
Following the directives of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, initiatives are in motion to transform key intersections in Mahakumbhnagar and the main highways into ‘green zones’.
DFO Prayagraj Arvind Kumar Yadav stated: "Under CM Yogi Adityanath's leadership, preparations are geared towards making this year's Mahakumbh spiritual, refreshing, and grand. A target of planting 149,620 saplings has been established, with 137,964 already planted. The entire plantation project is set to conclude by December 10."

The forest department is diligently working to ensure a vibrant and lush Mahakumbhnagar, with plants being positioned along every road and intersection. Mahakumbhnagar will be fully green before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit."
Alok Kumar Pandey, the IT Head of the Forest Department in Prayagraj, mentioned: "The access routes connecting Mahakumbhnagar to the city are being enhanced with decorative plants. Various projects are underway, including the installation of 50,000 cement tree guards, 10,000 round iron guards, and 2,500 square iron guards as part of this thematic planting initiative."
"A high-density oxygen forest is being developed in Saraswati Hi-Tech City, functioning both as an oxygen bank and a city forest. A total of 87,120 plants are being planted across 20 hectares in this region, which is expected to become a major attraction for both domestic and international tourists," he added.
About 2,500 plants have already been placed in the urban area of Mahakumbhnagar, with primary focus on the Prayagraj-Ayodhya and Prayagraj-Varanasi roads, in addition to other important routes such as those leading to Lucknow, Mirzapur, Rewa, and Banda.
Along the banks of the Ganga, 10,000 saplings are being planted, with special attention given to the beautification of Pakka Ghat and the banks of Jhunsi, Arail, and Phaphamau.
