Guwahati, Sep 9 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing for a visit to Assam later this week, where he will inaugurate several significant infrastructure and healthcare initiatives, as revealed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday.
The state is enthusiastically preparing for PM Modi's arrival, with the local administration working diligently to ensure a remarkable visit.
As per the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at 4:20 p.m. on September 13. The following day, he will head to Mangaldai, where at 11 a.m., he will lay the cornerstone of the Darrang Medical College.
In addition to the medical college, plans include the establishment of a GNM school and a nursing college, with a total investment of Rs 567 crore.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will initiate two major connectivity projects: the Narengi–Kuruwa Connecting Bridge and the Guwahati Ring Road Project, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing inter-district connectivity.
The ring road will traverse Kamrup Metro, Kamrup Rural, and Darrang districts in Assam, extending into Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya, with an estimated cost of Rs 7,000 crore, marking it as one of the region's most ambitious infrastructure projects.
Chief Minister Sarma noted that he has personally checked the venues and assessed preparations in anticipation of the Prime Minister's visit.
“I am pleased with the arrangements made so far. We are eager to welcome the Prime Minister and guarantee the successful launch of these initiatives,” he stated to reporters.
The Chief Minister also expressed appreciation for Modi's support in providing Assam with such significant projects, emphasizing that these will greatly enhance the state's healthcare system, improve road connectivity, and significantly boost overall infrastructure development.
