Mumbai, March 25 (NationPress) The Maharashtra government is set to host the Agri Hackathon competition aimed at creating opportunities for innovative researchers and steering the state’s agriculture sector towards a promising future, announced Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday.
This initiative is crucial as the effective adoption of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) in agriculture is essential for empowering farmers in the state, he emphasized.
“Through the Agri Hackathon, the government, in collaboration with private sector experts and institutions, will bring together young researchers, startups, agricultural specialists, and farmers in Maharashtra to tackle agricultural challenges using modern technology and enhance farm productivity,” he added.
Ajit Pawar, who led the meeting regarding the forthcoming Agri Hackathon on Tuesday, pointed out that the nation’s economy heavily relies on agriculture and agro-based industries.
“Alongside boosting farmers’ production in the state, the Agri Hackathon will be organized to address issues within the agricultural sector and foster innovation,” he stated.
“This initiative will explore new irrigation methods, including water conservation techniques, sustainable agricultural solutions, scientific application of pesticides and organic fertilizers, as well as e-marketing strategies to enhance the sales pipeline of agricultural products,” he further explained.
Ajit Pawar added that the state government’s initiative will facilitate greater integration of modern technology in agriculture and uplift farmers' incomes.
The Agri Hackathon will serve as a platform for innovative research, ultimately giving the farm sector in Maharashtra a new trajectory.
“This hackathon aims to identify practical solutions for farmers through technology. Presentations will include smart farming, weather forecasting systems, automated irrigation technologies, and innovative concepts for sustainable agricultural practices,” he noted.
“Participating teams will have the opportunity to showcase their ideas, with financial and technical support available to advance successful concepts,” he mentioned.
“This technology will be executed through the government with collaboration from private enterprises,” he added.
He expressed confidence that the hackathon would be a pivotal step toward finding modern and technological solutions to the challenges within the agricultural sector.
