Mumbai, Jan 18 (NationPress) The Maharashtra government has revealed the list of district guardian and co-district guardian ministers, just one week prior to the Republic Day.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will serve as the guardian minister for Gadchiroli district, while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will oversee Thane and Mumbai city districts.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has been designated as the guardian minister for Pune and Beed. Notably, NCP minister Dhananjay Munde, who is from Beed district, has not been appointed as the guardian minister for his home district, especially amidst increasing calls for his resignation due to his close associate Walmik Karad's connections to the brutal murder of Santosh Deshmukh, a Massajog sarpanch from Beed.

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule is assigned to Nagpur and Amravati districts, while Water Resources Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil will oversee Ahilyanagar. Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushif is designated for Washim, Higher and Technical Minister Chandrakant Patil for Sangli, Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan for Nashik, Forest Minister Ganesh Naik for Palghar, Water Supply Minister Gukabrao Patil for Jalgaon, Soil and Water Conservation Minister Sanjay Rathod for Yavatmal, Information Technology Minister Ashish Shelar and Skill Development Minister Manglprabhat Lodha for Mumbai Suburban district, and Industry Minister Uday Samant for Ratnagiri.

Additionally, EGS Minister Bharat Gogawale and Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam have not been assigned the guardian minister role for any district.

Despite Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expanding his cabinet on December 15 last year, the appointment of district guardian ministers was delayed due to disputes among the MahaYuti partners, including BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP.

However, Fadnavis managed to unify these three parties to reach a consensus, leading to the announcement of the list today. Fadnavis is scheduled to leave for Davos early Sunday morning to participate in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum.

The district guardian minister leads the district planning and development council, which plays a crucial role in the execution of development initiatives.
