Maharashtra: Notorious Woman Maoist Surrenders to Gadchiroli Police with Rs 2 Lakh Bounty

Gadchiroli (Maharashtra), Dec 2 (NationPress) A notorious and 'most wanted' woman Maoist, with a bounty of Rs 2 lakh on her head, has surrendered to the Gadchiroli Police, as stated by a senior official on Monday.

She has been recognized as Jyoti Dassa Kulmethe, also known as Tara, aged 28, who became a rebel at the age of 20 by joining the Aheri Dalam, and surrendered during the ongoing 'Naxal Week' in the region.

Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Neelotpal reported that Kulmethe was implicated in three murders, participated in eight encounters with security personnel, and was involved in another crime of dacoity, with multiple cases registered against her across various police stations.

Discussing her criminal background, Neelotpal noted that she allied with the Reds in 2016, initially as a member of the Aheri Dalam, later transitioning to the Bhamragad Dalam, where she remained active until her surrender.

She was directly involved in the horrific murders that occurred in the Mauja-Kothi (2021), Mildapalli (2013), and Tadgaon (2024) regions within the Maoist-affected district.

Kulmethe took part in eight police encounters with security forces over the past eight years, which transpired in Kavatharam (2016), Sheda-Kishtapur and Asha-Nainer (2017), Moremetta (2019), Aldandi and Yerdalmi (2020), Kakurmad in Chhattisgarh (2021), at Hikekar forests (2024), and culminating in a dacoity at Kapevancha-Rajaram (2022).

Due to her violent history, the state government had placed a bounty of Rs 2 Lakhs a few years back; however, following her surrender, she is eligible for rehabilitation and a reward of Rs 4.5 lakhs, in addition to other advantages.

Alongside Neelotpal, other officials from the Maharashtra Police and CRPF who played a role in the planning and execution of the surrender included Sandip Patil, Ajaykumar Sharma, Shambhu Kuma, and Sumit Verma, as reported by an official.

Neelotpal mentioned that with Kulmethe's reintegration into society, a total of 31 most wanted and heinous extremists, including several women, have surrendered to security forces over the last two years.
